Our daily curriculum covers all areas of development, from social and emotional development, gross and fine motor skills and language development, including articulation and how a child expresses themselves. We aim to give our children a day full of exciting opportunities for developmental learning. Our curriculum comprises of a morning ring, which includes Theme and concept discussions and perceptual work. Our discussions, activities, worksheets, arts and crafts and daily rings, including music, drama and story time are all tailored around our weekly Themes.
There are table activities to develop fine-motor skills, creativity and independent thinking. There is outside play on a wide variety of playground equipment. We also have a Sports field where the children take part in gross-motor activities, including fun filled games. Outside play is very valuable as it improves the overall coordination of the children and provides some cardiovascular workout, which results in better focus and concentration in the classroom activities. We have a mud kitchen, and the children are exposed daily to different sensory activities.
In our Grade R class the children take part in Show and Tell and sharing their news, and there is a weekly class Happy Helper chosen, all aimed at improving the children’s self-confidence and sense of responsibility. The class has an interactive Smart Board for educational purposes.
Our Racing Rabbits and Grade R children receive weekly homework. The Grade R children also receive weekly phonetic reading books.
